Our Annual Art Exhibition opened in the Basement Gallery last night, and it was a resounding success! Staff, students, parents and art lovers alike attended in their droves, and we listened to speeches from An Tain's director Paul Hayes, our principal Patricia Ward, and the artist Rosemary Warren who officially opened the show for us. They commended us on our hard work and on a very colourful, energetic and beautiful show. Ms Gallagher made a wonderful buffet of refreshments which we enjoyed. Local artists Rosemary Warren, Sarah McKenna and our secretary Aoife Ward kindly donated artworks which we raffled off to make money for the school.
Thank you so much to Ms Kelly who put so much of her time and energy into organising and curating this exhibition, to Ms Swords who helped us to make wonderful artworks, and to everyone who helped the show come together in any way. We are very proud of what we achieved by showing our work.
Our own artworks are on sale at the exhibition, as well as a series of linocut prints of St Brigid's crosses by artist Elaine Kelly. All pieces are 10 euro, and all proceeds go to St Brigid's School. The exhibition is open from 10 - 4 each day of this week. To buy a piece or donate, please contact the school on 042 9335238.
