This week as part of our hibernation / getting ready for winter project we decided to help look after the wild birds in our Bio diversity garden. In Home economics we mixed together fruit, seeds and melted fat – we chopped, poured, scooped and mixed as we worked together to make a healthy bird feed. We visited some of the other classes in school and used Lamh and speech to ask the students to collect their empty yoghurt pots so we could recycle them to make individual bird feed balls. We also used the local service bus to take a trip into town to buy some other bird feeder nets. We waited carefully and put out our hands to let the bus driver know we wanted the bus to stop, we carefully climbed the steep steps and really enjoyed the view from the top deck of the bus. Once in town we walked carefully as a group and used the traffic lights to cross the road safely. In Boyds we located the products we wanted to buy and then exchanged money at the till. Back in class we worked together to fill the feeders and then hung them out in our schools bio diversity garden. We think the birds will really enjoy them. We explored so many of our learning outcomes on this project.
