We had great fun working together to create a wonderful poster for the local Credit Union poster competition. The theme was ‘The force of Nature’. As many of Sherkin students are making a real effort to develop new interests in age appropriate programmes, we decided to take inspiration from the famous ‘STAR WARS’ character Darth Vader whose famous line “may the force be with you” seemed to fit perfectly. We mixed colours and worked together to lay down the backwash colours – we used gloves and tissue paper to create texture. We dipped string into PVA glue and draped over of the back drop, next we added different types of leaf rubbings (cloth and paper) we’d prepared during our Autumn theme. We also added some flower petals we found out in our biodiversity garden. A lot of work went into the Darth Vader character – tracing from whiteboard, colouring with pastels, adding fabric and glitter for texture and we think the whole poster looks so cool. Hopefully we will win a prize and can use the money to go on a class trip to the cinema.
